But I’ve waited for this to sprout for a very long time!
This is a Key Lime (I think… ) It’s the ping pong size lime and not the smaller one (Kaffir Lime) more commonly grown here. I bought some of the fruits a month ago and decided that I shall grow it.
The first batch of seeds didn’t sprout anything. After 2 weeks, I cut another fruit open and tried growing this second batch of seeds.
Finally… after more than two weeks, I have two tiny little seedlings.
It is growing rather slowly, taking its time from the seed cracking to reveal some life inside, to it actually growing upwards and sprouting these two tiny leaves.
Quite excited. Hope they will grow up nicely into saplings and finally into a key lime tree.
From my research, it may take 8 years for a key lime tree to start bearing fruit!
We’ll see.
So exciting!
